Program Assistant to work on a team to implement an empowerment program for South Asian survivors of domestic violence. This is a grant funded position and the Assistant will be responsible for working with the Program Manager, MaiFS staff, and volunteers in planning and organizing program activities as well as carrying out operational tasks related to the grant. The ideal candidate is culturally sensitive, aware of issues related to South Asian Domestic Violence survivors, a self-starter, creative, with excellent organizational skills and an eye for detail and able to understand the needs of and work with a diverse group of people.
i. Assist the Program Manager and MaiFS marketing and outreach teams to disseminate information about the program
ii. Assist the Program Manager and MaiFS outreach team to recruit and register participants for the program
iii. Work with Program Manager to organize transportation and child care for participants
iv. Perform administrative duties such as duplicating, sorting, filing etc.
v. Set up meetings, prepare meeting minutes related to the program and disseminate the minutes to relevant stakeholders.
vi. Perform other grant related duties that may arise.
i. Familiarity with South Asian cultures and knowledge of atleast one South Asian language
ii. Detail oriented with strong problem solving skills
iii. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and roles.
iv. Ability to interact with people of varied cultural backgrounds
v. Ability to work independently and as part of a team
vi. Excellent skills with Microsoft Word Office, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook etc.
vii. Ability to manage time effectively
viii. Effective oral and written communication skills
ix. Ability to work flexible hours
